Personal Updates - where are you now?

Extracted from e-mails... (but personal messages and military secrets were omitted!)

Tom Shope Yes, you have reached the correct Tom Shope (how many could there be?). The only person I keep in touch with from AC Nielsen is Mike Stuart. You probably don't remember him, he worked on promo-man. I now live in Jacksonville Florida. I like it here very much. I'm just 15 minutes from the beach. I'm still married to the same girl, 13 years now. We have no kids and have no plans to have any in the near future. I work for a small software company researching new technology and contributing to development projects. I was recruited to this company about 3 years ago.

Before that I was working for Fidelity Investments. I joined Fidelity Investments in Las Colinas and they moved the whole department to Merrimack New Hampshire. I lived in New Hampshire for a little over 2 years, but had to leave because the big company politics and the lack of civilization in New Hampshire were not working for me. I have basically been doing Windows/C++ work since I left Nielsen.

Martha P. Althoff I hope the Logistics party was fun.  I did work for Nielsen during that time frame.  I worked under Steve Mathers.  Do you remember that name?  I live in Sarasota, FL so to get to Texas for a party was not realistic.

Who do you work for these days?  I've been a stay at home mom for about 8 years now.  However, I just started back to work in sales for a company that sells incentive/reward packages to businesses.

Robert Schroll
Left ACNielsen in 2000 to join a small "start-up" called PROSCAPE Technologies.   Not as fruitful as back in the Logistics days, but I've learned a whole new part of the software business and made some great contacts as a result.

I will be relocating with my family in July 2002 to Santa Ynez Valley, CA (Yes, right smack dab in the middle of horse country).   We have 3 girls now (AJ 9, Olivia 3 and Lauren 2).  We have 19 Arabian show horses (it's my wife's fulltime job).

Sorry couldn't attend the big party, but we were in CA that week and couldn't reschedule.   Maybe for the 15th or 20th reunion ?

Here is where you can reach me :  rshroll@hotmail.com   Anytime you are in California, please don't hesitate to stop by.

John Barnes After 13 years in the U.S. I am still writing Space Management software (!) After Nielsen I went to Intactix. Intactix was bought by a Swedish company called Pricer, who sold us a few years later to a company called JDA.

I'm living with Amy Waddill, her son, a cat and a dog.

David Buller I am grateful for the invite, but regret that I won't be able to attend.

I'll provide a brief update of my personal life for any old friends that are interested.  I'm living in Madison, CT (near the Connecticut shoreline) with my wife Ellen, 8.5 year old twins Dylan and Jessica, and 3.5 year old daughter Allison.  I'm in my second year of teaching Math and Computer Science (Visual Basic, if you can believe it) at the Daniel Hand High School (in Madison).

Jim Dippold
(I asked "Are you in Canada")
Canada, Connecticut... they both start with a 'c' and they are both 'cold'... but Canada middle of 'no-where', 'cheap to live' and 'the Expos' ... Connecticut '40 minutes from NYC', 'Very expensive to live' and 'the Yankees'.

Great to hear from you, unbelievable but still not an ex-Nieslen employee.  Currently just bought by a Dutch company which might make me an ex-Nielsen by moving to their Billboard division.
I don't think I can arrange a business trip to Dallas so I can crash the party, but I'm still trying to figure out a way.

Tell the old gang hi, I miss them, and those are still some of the best times I have had.

JoAnne Hamby ...I wish I could come but unfortunately, I am out of travel time and money. I just bought a condo inside an old house in Denver and I am also starting school. Would love to be there...please tell everyone I said hello...

...It was so good to hear from Kim...and look forward to communicating with Connie again. I miss everybody. I don't care that my pictures are out on the internet as long as people don't think I bought the WHOLE house! Ok, I guess it is alright if they think that (ha-ha)...hey, while your at it, could you put a picture of me and Brad Pitt so that everyone will think I just hit the jackpot!!!!

Keith Hauptman ...Interesting that after all these years, David Nichols works here in the same building we do in Lewisville…
Jeff Woiton Hi, John - Chris gave me the link to this party. Wish I could make it, but I live in Seattle now and in fact just visited family in TX last weekend.

Let's see, catching up ... I have been at Microsoft for 8 years now, may semi-retire from the software biz in another 2-3 unless the economy tanks even further. I got married last summer and bought a house built in 1912. Here's a snapshot for your website gallery.

Jerry Honeycutt "The digital signature on this message is invalid because the message contents were altered after the message was signed."
Jill Wilson ...Yes, I am still in town...
Ken Whitaker ...I'm in San Diego...
Martin Painter ...yes I have been doing a book for some years and it will be launched on May 2 at RAF Cosford near Birmingham to co-inside with the 50th anniversary of the world's first jet passenger service, being from London to J'burg. Glad you found the web site, getting a little old now and needs some revamp. How do you like the nose section I acquired ?

Would have loved to have come over to the 'gig', often think of the 'good old days'. I am presently EMEA Director of Product Marketing for Sterling Commerce (part of SBC), we have a 'sub' office just down the road on 114 on the way to Las Colinas. If I had know I would have made an excuse to be in the office which I have not been to yet. incidentally, we bought a house in southern Spain last year (see attached) and have named it Las Colinas !!

Marty Hill Tell everyone "Hello" for me. (Well, you can say "Hi" or "Howdy" a bit if "Hello" gets too monotonous.)
Louisa (Anson) Barnsley Thanks for tracking me down and sending an invitation email. Sorry to say we will not be able to come. We are not currently in Australia but rather in Atlanta as we split our time between the two places but it still is too much of a hike for us to get to Dallas.

I looked at the picture of who you had contacted and it was fascinating to see who knew who. Chris still seemed to be in the middle of things! Please give my best wishes to anyone who remembers back to 1990!

Owen Horne ...We are still living in Austin,...
Rita Clevenger Fiscella My life is blessed w/a wonderful husband and two beautiful (as Kappy noted - ha) children. I met my husband at 12:02 AM in 92'. The year I moved to Atlanta was a wild and exciting ride. After retiring from Nielsen in 95', our wedding followed in June that same year. Found an IT consulting co. to work for and then we got lucky & had Jack in 98'. Stayed home for awhile, then I got bored & decided to find a mindless job nearby. I began working for a Dr. a block & 1/2 away from our home. I know more about the healthcare industry than I need to know. I work just as hard there as I did trying to make a buck at Nielsen. But, it's so close & I love the gorey-ness of it all. Must be my kinky side getting the best of me - HA!!!! W/the help of some great drs., I was able to have one more baby and we were blessed w/Danielle Capri on 1/2/02.

Of course all of this could not have been done w/out the help of my wonderfully handsome husband, who happens to be a sports anchor for CNNSI. Which by the way can only be seen by those on the East, West coasts, Fl. & those w/satellites. CNNSI is much like ESPN. And because of his love for golf, he hosts his own golf show on saturdays & is very obsessed w/the game. Our son Jack Palmer is named after Jack Nicholas & Arnold Palmer, famous golfers and is 3 1/2 yrs. old. Of course, Bob has been teaching Jack how to play golf, but Jack would rather ride his stick horse & be Superman w/his flying red cape. Our daughter Daniel is 3mos. old & eats like a horse.(must take after her mother). All in all, we're the typical family!!!

So sorry that I can't be there. Give everyone a hug...

Bob & Phyllis Cohen We’re in Paris.
Jeff Saitow ...As always, I am honored to be invited to the ex-ACN party even though they are still letting me work there.
Lori ("van") (Buss) Stillman Just to catch you up on me and what I'm up to...

Finally found Mr. Right on a plane from DFW to Colorado Springs in 1999 and got married in July '00. His job was here and non-relocatable, so I sold the house and moved to the Washington DC area. ACNielsen didn't object to my change in address (or marital status!), so I am still with them and handle new business for U.S. clients. Unfortunately, I travel these days more than sanity should permit and am now spending most of my time in Cincinnati working on business with the biggie - P&G.

Life in VA isn't the same as Texas, but I am enjoying the area. We bought a beast of an old house in a historic district of suburban Manassas, Virginia ad are trying to restore it back to its original splendor. No one has any idea how great TX real estate - and TX-size bathrooms! - are until you try the "vintage" route. What I wouldn't give some days for a standard size yard and a house with new plumbing, wiring, etc. I'm learning all kinds of new things on the home improvement front and make more visits to Home Depot than any other outlet. Look for me on HGTV someday soon. Ha!

No kiddos, yet, but are hoping the good Lord blesses us someday. For now, an old cat enjoys our undivided attention and that works pretty well. We both travel too much and cats are definitely self-sufficient...

...The good old days at Logistics are unbeatable and I'd love to hear how/where everyone is.

Theresa Blanchard (Hasler) ...I'm living in San Antonio right now...
Tim Simmons Thank you for the invite. At present I am in Kansas City and looking for work. Consequently, I cannot commit to May 4th in Dallas. However, as my wife's family is from there, we might surprise....
Virginia (Ginny) German ...looking at all those names brought back some good memories though. As you might know, I am in a new job (Dir of Marketing) for a museum in Redding, CA. and I am having fun. Hard work, but fun...
